Spectrum mothering

It has been three years now since my son was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, two years since my other son was diagnosed with social anxiety, and one year since my other son was diagnosed with ADHD. It was a relief to finally find out that it wasn't "just me" that could see my children were different. I now had an excuse for his odd social behavior. I'm not crazy!

It has been a relief, and also a struggle. I am relieved that it isn't just me, and yet I struggle to not make it the excuse for everything that happens in their lives.

This blog is dedicated to the struggles and challenges, and joys and blessings that come from mothering children that are "twice special."

May we all prevent our children from becoming the unabomber.
